Anne Ursu’s the Cronus Chronicles

Recently, I was commissioned by Lauren Rille of Simon & Schuster to re-do three book covers for a series called The Cronus Chronicles.

The books follow the adventures of a couple of cousins who discover that Greek gods aren’t only real — but that they exist today, and are plotting against humanity!

Here are the final covers with & without type, starring their respective Greek gods: Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. Oh, and I’m told that the final versions will have FOIL!!!

Thanks for reading!

p.s. if you’re really savvy, you’ll notice a couple of changes from the no-logo versions to the print version.

Hey Jed,

Originally they sent me three versions of this logo that they were considering, and I opted to start sketching with the simplest one, that left the most room for my art. But the logo was decided upon a while before the images for made, so if they don't fit, it's my fault. Ultimately with this sort of thing, the publisher is trying to throw so much awesomeness at the viewer, that a 10 year-old kid can't resist wanting to pick it up. So, in that regard, I think they work well.

No, this was the most over-the-top logo, but the publisher chose this one over the one I picked. I agree, it's about maximum awesomeness.
