Star Wars Part II

Howdy!

The recent release of the Star Wars Galaxy 5 card set means that I’m officially allowed to post my other contribution to the set on my website!

Here’s the text I wrote up for the back of the card:

Between ESB and ROTJ, Luke withdrew to his former Master Obi-Wan’s hut in Tattoine to complete his Jedi training in solitude. For this piece, I chose to illustrate the moment of him completing the construction of the light saber he would eventually use to defeat Darth Vader and rescue his father with.

It’s been months since I did this piece, but I’ve grown to like it more and more as time goes on.

By the way, I’ll be at the Chicago Comics & Entertainment Expo this April 16-18 with a table at Artist’s Alley. If you can make it, be sure to stop by and check out all the cool stuff I’ll have to offer there.

Take care,

Frank

Yeah! Definitely one of your best pieces, Frank. Great likeness, great color, and a really interesting scene that really adds something to the canon of SW illustration. Loving it.

Excellent image.

It totally captures his deep concentration.

Really appreciate the progress pics.

Also funny in that it reminds me of the scene in Forrest Gump where he breaks the record for reassembling his rifle.

Hey Frank. this may be a little odd, but i have a tattoo of this piece. I wanted to ask the artists permission, but i found it on my friends laptop and he had no idea where it had come from, and i couldn't track it down until i had already gotten the tattoo. as soon as i put up a picture, one of my friends linked me your page. i guess i just wanted to say sorry for replicating your piece without permission, and that i hope you'll forgive me for stealing your amazing art. i liked it so much that i put it on me 😛 It's not finished yet, but here's a picture of it so far: http://www.flickr.com/photos/brandywinecrew/5262266508/
