The Last Unicorn #3 – Molly Grue

Hey guys!

This is the third out of six of the covers I’m doing for IDW’s the Last Unicorn. For those of you familiar with the story, it introduces the character of Molly Grue, an estranged companion of the unicorn from years ago.

In the story, Molly’s initial reaction to coming face-to-face with the unicorn after so long is a powerful and subtle mix of emotions, of which I can’t really describe — but I think I did a good job of communicating in the drawing.

I went through a lot of different variations on the color, trying to get something that I felt would stand out and not be too like other stuff on the comic shelf, and I hope I’ve been able to accomplish that.
