Here’s a recent book cover I created for Irene Gallo of Tor Books.
The Point Man is the original story that came before my first job with Irene, The Long Man, of which I also did the cover for, earlier this year. Both novels were written by acclaimed comic book and screenwriter Steven Englehart.
An interesting thing that happened while working on this job was that I had to totally shift direction when it was about 80% complete, because the editor wanted some changes that would better reflect the story within. Fortunately, Irene let me take a couple weeks off to get the flaming magic skull version out of my system; I really doubt I could have done as good of a job if I had to immediately re-do the piece.
While I wasn’t happy with that decision originally, I am glad that things turned out the way they did. This is my favorite cover to date, but I hope to top it in the near future!
Best,
frank
